Isakson Co-sponsors Senate Resolution Designating Nov. 19 as 'Feed America Day'

The resolution also encourages all Americans to forgo eating two meals and to donate the money they would have spent on food to a charity that feeds the hungry.
Each month, Isakson makes a cash donation to the Atlanta Community Food Bank in the amount of the automatic cost-of-living pay increase that Congress received at the beginning of this year.
“During times of economic difficulty such as this, individuals and families from all walks of life may find themselves in need of a helping hand. As a result, supplies at many local charities that feed the hungry are running low,” Isakson said. “I encourage everyone who has the means to make a donation to help ensure that our fellow Georgians do not go hungry this Thanksgiving or any day.”
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has reported that in 2008 an estimated 49 million Americans, including nearly 17 million children, lived in homes that did not have an adequate supply of food.
