Isakson Listens To Georgians' Concerns At Forums Across State During August

ATLANTA — U.S. Senator and Senate candidate Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., traveled across the state during August, speaking with Georgians about the critical issues facing our state and nation such as health care and cap-and-trade.

Isakson visited more than 40 communities where he spoke to organizations, participated in events and meetings, visited with officials at military bases, held in-depth discussions with medical professionals and hosted a number of town hall meetings. The Senator also kicked-off a series of “telephone town hall” meetings held with Georgians across the state. Over 5,000 constituents participated in the first two calls.

“Georgians have a lot on their minds right now, and it is my job to listen to them,” said Isakson. “They are concerned with the direction the country is headed and are particularly fearful of a government-run health care plan. I want them to know that I have received their message and that I will continue to work hard for them when I return to Washington.”

Isakson is opposed to the Administration’s proposed government-run health care plan and has voted against the Democrat’s health care bill in the Senate HELP Committee. He is a co-sponsor of an alternative health care reform bill, S.1099, the “Patients’ Choice Act of 2009,” which seeks to strengthen doctor-patient relationships by using choice and competition, rather than rationing and restrictions, to contain costs and ensure access to affordable health care for all Americans.
